NATIONAL DRUM DAY
By Joe Bailey
On Nov. 15, 2016 it was National Drumming Day. Being a drummer for 26 years, I wanted to bring what I love to do to work. Only a few of the individuals that we work with knew that I am a drummer. I wanted to share my talent with everyone.

I loaded up my drums and brought them to work. I set them up in one of the bigger classrooms. When I started my presentation, I began with some drumming jokes. I got a lot of laughs with those. I then began to play. I did warn everyone that is was going to be a little loud. They did not mind it that much! I started with some jazz rhythms, some blues, funk and rock. Everyone loved it! When I was finished playing I asked if anyone would like to try to play the drums. Quite a few of our individuals got behind the drums and played them! They even got their picture taken with them! They thought that was real cool!

At the end of the presentation, I played a video of my favorite drummer, Neil Peart from the band Rush. He was doing a ten minute drum solo. As our individuals watched the video, they enjoyed an ice cream treat with Drumstick brand cones. They thought the video was amazing! Overall they enjoyed the whole presentation. I believe the ice cream was their favorite part!!!
